Elk Fun Facts
Elks are very large deer which are found all over the world. In the United States, they are found living in parts of the western United States, the Eastern Rockies to New Mexico and in the northern lower peninsula of Michigan. These animals are often seen in the open mountainous region and can be found inhabiting the woodlands, swamps, aspen-hardwood forests and coniferous-hardwood forests. These animals are most often living in herds and are known to be social animals. Their herd could range about 200 members or more. However, both male and female herds can exist separately although the herds are known to be matriarchal. |
