The moose is one of the largest family members of the New World of Deers and is the largest member of the Cervidae family. It is hard to ignore the might of the moose as they are strong creatures known for their towering size, long legs and distinctive black color coating. They also have a prominent muzzle and have a dangling hairy dewlap called a bell. While the Americans have termed this animal "moose", the Europeans have adopted the name of "elk" to define these rather large furry animals. The moose is known to inhabir the northern parts of North America and Eurasia. In North America, scientists have identified four species of the moose including the eastern moose which inhabits much of eastern Canada and the northeastern region of the United States. There is also the northwestern moose which inhabits central Canada and parts of the United States namely North Dakota, Minnesota and southern Michigan states. Those who are interested in deers must known that the deer belongs to the Cervidae family and compose of some 43 species known to mankind. Deers are known to exist in all continents except in Australia and the Antartica where the habitat prevents their proliferation.
