Bear Facts

Baby bears are generally born blind and deaf but they will live under the protection of their mother in the den until they grow up and are ready to live on their own. The black bear normally has about 1-3 babies in her litter each weighing about one half to one pound at birth. Although they weigh so light, bear cubs will put on weight very quickly and grow stronger. The mother bear will attend to her little ones weaning and feeding them as well as teaching them the ways to live in the wild.
