Saint John the Baptist is most often associated with baptism and the forgiveness of sins. He would attract large crowds asking them to make penance and to abstain from sinning, retiring into the harsh and rocky dessert for meditation and prayer. When he met Jesus, the story goes that Saint John the Baptist recognized him as the messiah stating that it is from Jesus that he should take the baptism from. He is known to be a forceful preacher with a voice that rang of truth and honesty. His Feast Day is recognized as June 24th.
