Sea turtles especially the most consumed species, the green sea turtle, are listed on the endangered list. Every year, these sea turtles are killed for their meat, body parts and for their eggs by ruthless poaches where they are then sold in black markets. Authorities and wildlife conservation groups face an enormous hurdle when it comes to protecting sea turtles because it becomes difficult to deal with authorities in remote areas where the livelihood depends on such trade for survival. Although the human species have caused an enormous problem for the sea turtles, they are also killed by ships and boat propeller accidents and sometimes drown because of getting caught in fishing nets. |
