Many countries are moving towards building turtle farms instead of committing to wild catches to preserve the turtle population. Turtle Facts
People should take measures to lessen night time activities on beaches where nesting turtles choose to lay their eggs. Sea turtles are usually afraid of human activity and nesting turtles will not consider laying their eggs when there is too much activity on the beach. Additionally, there should be a limit to the use of beach furniture and recreational accessories like umbrellas and cabanas so that nesting turtles do not feel afraid. Some nesting turtles are also known to become trapped in some of the furniture placed on beaches. Also, the light that comes from night time activity deters nesting turtles from laying their eggs because it disorients them. Tire tracks left on beaches can also impede baby turtles from making their way to the sea thereby increasing their chances of getting caught by predators. People should not drive close to nesting beaches and they should fill up all holes they dig on beaches so as not to mislead turtles. Remove all furniture after use to protect the sea turtles as well.
