To Saint Francis of Assisi, prayer was very important in maintaining his closeness with God. He did a lot of penances, many times seeking solitude to be with the Holy Father so much that many times people could see how much he loved being with God that he seemed to have a problem differentiating between the life of prayer and the active life. Our beautiful sculpture is inspiring because it captures the saint making his quiet time with God.
