Saint Clare of Assisi, born 1194, was one of the most ardent and earliest followers of Saint Francis of Assisi and was associated as the "Sister Moon" while Saint Francis was called the "Brother Sun". The meaning of the Eucharist as part of the statue has its story in that Saint Clare of Assisi, so troubled by the invading Saracens, had quickly brought out the Eucharist as the only means of instilling fear to thwart the invaders. She succeeded in protecting the monastery and this statue celebrates her love for Jesus and the work she endured to create one of the finest Franciscan orders of all times.Created in granite and is hand carved by artisans.
