Known as Our Lady of Charity or La Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre, the sculpture of the Virgin Mary and Child shown with three men at sea was based on real life events where three men at sea attributed their lives spared through the intervention of the Virgin mother. A storm had gathered while they were at sea and when they prayed, the men reported seeing a statue of the Virgin mother holding the baby Jesus on wood gather close to them. As they took stock of the statue, they noticed it was not wet despite the terrible storm that had brewed. While the story did not end with the three men, the beauty and persistence of the Virgin Mary in securing the exact site for her chapel remains. She is since regarded as the Patroness of Cuba. Sculpture is made of resin and stone aggregates. Dimensions: 13"H x 6.5" x 4.5" Normally ships in 1-2 weeks.
