Did you know the pygmy marmoset is the smallest monkeys known to mankind. It weighs only about 4 ounces about the weight of a stick of butter and lives in the Amazon regions of Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and northern Bolivia. Because they are so tiny, these little monkeys can easily become food for cats, eagles, hawks and even snakes. As such, nature created them to handle predators by allowing them to have a close to 360 degree visual experience. Because they have to keep watch on their safety, pygmy marmosets tend to be cautious and very quick in their movements to avoid predators. They move so fast that they can leap several feet to avoid their predators.
