Golf Fun Facts:
Do you know that some of the early golf balls were also made of feathers. Known as the featherie ball and introduced in 1618, the ball was made with pieces of horse or cowhide which was used to stuff together with goose feathers. They would be sewn tight and would be wet during manufacturing. As the feathers expanded when they got dry, the leather would shrink and this would cause the golf ball to become hard. Such balls were known to be very expensive because the production was a very time consuming process.
