Turtle Facts
The green turtle is one of the most traveled sea animals in the oceans. When a mother sea turtle lays her eggs and returns to the sea, she exposes her hatchlings not only to human predators who hunt the eggs for food but other natural predators like the raccoons and crabs which dig the holes to get at the eggs. When the baby turtles do survive and come out of their shells, they expose themselves to the danger of moving across the sandy beaches to avoid the clutches of sea gulls and crabs which would be waiting to feast on the bite size baby sea turtles. Once they grow, they do not expose themselves as much but sharks are known to prey on sea turtles biting and eating their flippers at times.
