Turtle Facts

New research has shown that marine pollution is posing a threat to the survival of sea turtles in the sea. When pollution contaminates and kills plant and animal life, it also destroys sea turtle habitats. Some of the marine pollution is caused by oil spills, fertilizers and improper disposal of sewage. Farms and lawns are also guilty of leaking fertilizers into the sea. This causes the creation of eutrophication which is an explosion of algal blooms that deplete oxygen in water. Consequently, this means that marine animals will have difficulty breathing in water. This situation is serious and has caused marine life to die in places like the Gulf of Mexico.
