Boars are known as wild pigs, and are often reared in Europe especially in France for their meat. In the UK, the farming of wild boars are limited to very strict legal requirements as they are recognized as a member of the Dangerous Wild Animals Act of 1976. However, the wild boar has much significance in much of European lore especially in the Norse and Celtic myths. Here, our monumental size wild boar sculpture and statue comes beautifully detailed highlighting a large bronze boar with tusks as shown. The sculpture adds a lovely theme for a restaurant, zoo or even a park, any place that loves the look of this wild pig. Made of bronze. Hand finished. Dimensions: 42"H x 81"L x 27"D Normally ships in 1-2 weeks if in stock.
Fun Pig Facts
In Native American culture, the wild boar was used to teach young braves the meaning of facing the truth when they were found to tell a lie. If a young brave was found to be guilty of telling lies, he would be taught of the need to face his inner conflicts and confront his fears. A knife would be placed in his hand and he would be led to fight a boar till death. As a result, a wild boar was symbolic in that it forced one to face and accept the problem of life as it came to you.
