Fun Facts about Dogs
It is a known fact that Labradors make wonderful search and rescue dogs. Jake, a Black Labrador was credited for burrowing through smoking debris on September 11, 2001 to find people who may be stuck under rubble. Prior to this, the 12 year old dog had also helped in recovery efforts after hurricanes Katrina and Rita as well as to search for survivors in flooded homes in Mississippi. In 2007, the dog died of cancer. Its accomplishments are legendary though. The dog was retrieved from a shelter and adopted at 10 months. At that time, it had a broken hip and leg. However, it grew into a remarkable dog which helped save many lives across the country. |
