Crane Facts

Cranes are highly treasured in Chinese culture as well. They are a symbol of long lives and peace, and are favored birds next to the mythical phoenix. This bird is called “three long” because of their long beak, long legs and long neck. These birds were considered important and featured in Chinese official costumes throughout the ancient Chinese dynasties. The Chinese view crane symbolisms in many ways. For instance, when a crane is seen moving towards the sun, it expresses a desire for social advancement. When a crane has one leg raised up and its wings outstretched, it marks a symbol of longevity.
