Elephant Facts

Do you know that an elephant flaps its ears like a fan to cool it down? When it flaps more, it will cool its body down by several degrees. Flapping is also said to cool the elephant’s blood when it circulates through the veins in the ears. On a windy day, the elephant will take advantage of the situation and stand facing the wind as the wind blows against its ears. This helps the elephant cool its body down. Sometimes, if a water source is nearby, the elephant will spray water on its ears with its trunk and this cools the blood in its ears.
