Elephant Facts
The elephant tusks could be right or left-handed and will not always be of the same shape. The one that is used most often will show wear since the elephant will use that most often for work. Tusks are like upper incisor teeth because they are embedded in the elephant’s head. It is said that about one third of the tusks is hidden in the elephant’s head. They use the tusks for a variety of uses including stripping off the bark from trees or digging the soil for roots to eat. In a fight, the elephant would use the tusks to battle enemies and sometimes as a way of attracting females. Female elephants are known to be attracted to elephants with very large tusks. |
