Studies have shown that the disease is caused by pollution that has caused contamination of the sea. We have to take the necessary steps to stop marine pollution such as oil spills which kill plant and animal life in the sea. It also destroys the sea turtle habitat. Marine pollution can also come from oil seeping from drains into rivers and then the sea.
