Bear Facts
Do you know that China has bear farms and is the main consumer in bear bile? Bears are used to supply their bile for medicinal purposes especially with the treatment of fat and liver conditions. A catheter is surgically implanted into the gallbladder of the bear permanently for this purpose. The bears are said to be deprived of social interactions and are sometimes crushed in very tight cages. There is also a demand for bear gallbladders in other Asian countries like South Korea where gallbladders are priced more than gold.
