Ever walked into a cemetery and found yourself looking at some of the finest angel sculptures? It can be such a peaceful and beautiful experience just going through grave sites to check on the angel statues and sculptures which guard cemetery plots. Some of the most beautiful angel sculptures known throughout the world like the Angel of Grief as an instance, has been widely replicated for use as memorials in many cemeteries and grave sites. Perhaps, the manner the angel is created is so soulful that people feel a need to express their sorrows over the loss of their loved ones by communicating an angel in grief at the site of burial.
But the idea of adding an angel as a monument is important because angels have this way of surrounding us with so much peace and when you think about where they come from, you will only feel a sense of protection and calmness about you….that there is nothing to fear since the angel is there to guard you. It isn’t surprising why angels are then chosen to mark a memorial or set to guard a grave site. Some of the angel sculptures are so stunning that they are created life size and set as monument sculptures to mark an entry to a tomb.
So what are angels and why are they chosen to mark a cemetery? Angels are spiritual beings of love and belong to the higher plane of existence. Their mission is to protect and guide us continually serving as a link connecting us to God. Most often, because of this task given to them, they are our divine messengers from heaven. They surround us continually and help us focus on the work that is expected of us here on earth. When you understand the meaning of angels and the task they have been given by God, you will realize the reason why they are used to protect homes and to watch over in cemetery grounds. The reason why they exist is because they are sent to guide us not only in the life we lead here on earth but to surround us in the after life as well.
When you look at a monument angel in a cemetery, try to observe the serene nature of the angel’s countenance. Think of what lay in the mind of the sculptor as he or she carved out the angel. It is the general belief that angels are created to guide us and so, the sculptor captures this look of protection very well since when it comes to asking for help, there are no limits to what an angel can offer us. Some angels are seen as guiding children or a baby in their hands while other angels are seen holding torches. There are yet other angels which are created to hold swords and some designed to hold crosses. These angel sculptures, whatever the form they are created as, will always add a peaceful mark to a monument or cemetery. Angels will always fill us with peace and the reason why they are chosen as monument and memorial sculptures. They make themselves felt in a peaceful way and are extremely compassionate and powerful guides even in the afterlife. It is little wonder then that these powerful spiritual beings are represented in such forms as our guides, watching over the dead in cemeteries and ensuring that only peace and tranquility will reign on earth. |
